They have called for an action on February 15, 2006 as a day of global support for workers in Iran, and subsequently have asked from all members of trades unions to organize a protest in front of the Iranian regimes’ embassies or Foreign Affairs Ministry of each country in order to realize the workers’ demands in Iran. This action is fundamentally lacking and subsequently is bound to fail like other actions of theirs. Therefore, there will not be any gains for workers in Iran.
The essence of a gathering in front of this or that embassy or Foreign Affairs Ministry absolutely does not force the capitalist government of Iran to meet the workers’ demands. |
|
These failings are:
-
The essence of a gathering in front of this or that embassy or Foreign Affairs Ministry absolutely does not force the capitalist government of Iran to meet the workers’ demands. These kinds of actions constantly show this end result.
-
Restricted to this level of useless protest – in reality means that the ICFTU in the framework of the different sectors of the international bourgeois conflict and in the realm of the current conflict among the bourgeois government of Iran and other bourgeois governments has wanted the false defense of the demands of workers in Iran be made a pretext in order to support one sector of the bourgeois in contrary to another sector. We should not forget the role of the ICFTU from its earliest formation that for this reason it was formed.
-
The most fundamental demand of the working class in Iran is forming an independent anti-capitalist organization of the worker masses, and this demand has been scrapped from their list.
-
One of the essential demands of the working class movement in Iran which was crossed out from their list is to revoke unconditionally all sentences against worker-activists who were arrested for celebrating May Day in Saghez.
-
If the ICFTU tells the truth, it can ask its members which are more than 150 million, to walk out of their workplaces for a half hour around the world. The effort of this action would have some essential benefits.
- The international worker movement will show that the ICFTU is not the mace-bearer of any part of the global bourgeois. Therefore, workers around the world will not feel that they are instruments for providing support for different bourgeois governments against other sectors.
- The bourgeois government of Iran would be faced with a manifestation of the true international working class exerting itself in the interest of the working class in Iran.
- Additionally, the bourgeois government of Iran would be faced with the pressure of its international class partner. This is not only from the different sectors of the international bourgeoisie dispute. The simple reason is that the entire global bourgeoisie would feel this pressure on their chests.
- And most importantly it is a demonstration of the manifestation of the international working class solidarity against the entire global bourgeoisie.
- At the end, it is obvious that the ICFTU will not take this anti-capitalist stand for supporting the working class in Iran or elsewhere. But the ICFTU knows that with the kind of action which was suggested from its office would not solve any problem of the working class in Iran or elsewhere.
